What Is Creative Brief In Digital Signage And Why It’s Important

6/23/2018

Comments

Picture
They say ‘to be prepared is half the victory’ – a creative brief increases your chances of launching an effective signage campaign.
It is a document on which you pen down your thoughts regarding signage industry. You may counter this statement by saying ‘Why…? Why do we need a creative brief when signage industry is all about art, illustration and pictures?’

How Is It Done?

1. Brainstorming
The first step is brainstorming – you have to think about ideas. In any business, the ultimate goal is to maximize the profit and minimize the losses. In the world of digital signage, you need to think about ways through your signage will receive the most exposure.
  • What colors and illustrations should be used in your sign?
  • Where will the sign be displayed?
  • Is the sign visible from far proximity?
  • Does it feel good to read the sign?
If you look closely, you can see that the following aspects are being covered through creative briefs.

2. The Challenges
  • The end client’s business objectives
  • The holistic strategy of a particular brand
  • The scope of visual needs of an environment
Your creative brief does not have to be lengthy. It weighs in terms of quality, rather than quantity so think about the problems you are going to solve through your writing.
Remember that ‘content is king’ and the main items to focus upon, in your creative brief include attention to detailing, deadline, budget and key audience.

3. Importance
AIGA’s official sponsor, Aquent states that a creative brief helps in smooth running of a project. It prevents delays and increases output by:
  • Streamlining expectations
  • Defining distinct goals
  • Building team consensus
  • Joining goals with different creative strategies

4. Beating the Competition
The creative brief and marketing trends depend upon one another. It is a continuous cycle and so, you need to refresh the both.
If you are going 90% by the book (in this case, the creative brief), you can include a 5 – 10% new innovation (or trend) to be a little different from mainstream market.
If you succeed in making a new trend, other people will follow and will include it in their respective creative briefs. Ultimately you will get famous and people will gossip ‘oh look! This is the original logo and look at all the others who copied from the original’

5. Impact
Once a creative brief is established, you can take it as a guideline in your digital signage building scheme. Like a SWOT analysis, once you feel you are going astray with your design, your creative brief will keep you on the right track.
Digital signage industry is not constant. After a while, companies change their signs to keep afresh amongst the free market. Creative brief will help redesign your sign as well as give you short term realistic goals. These short term goals are an epitome of your market growth and like the trends of market, the creative brief is subjected to change.

QuantumSign – The New Age Of Digital Signatures

Digital identification of people is a technology which has contributed to digital security becoming efficient year by year.
One example for commonplace understanding can be that of the facial recognition feature in smartphones today; it just offers unparalleled security if perfected. Digital signatures are one such breakthrough which came about in the first decade of the 21st century, and today with the advent of Quantum Sign Corp this concept is being taken to an entirely new level.

What Are Digital Signatures?
To put it simply, there is not much difference between a regular pen signature and a digital one, because they both serve the purpose of certifying that any information is being sent/received on the intended end. Over a long distance, however, the possibility of doing a regular signature becomes limited.

This is where this signage technology comes into play; it allows users to sign digitally using cryptographic coding technology. The encoding done through blocks of code allows the data to be embedded into them, and the pattern required to access the data is that of the signature specified by the sending authority.

Is It Reliable?
The following elements can explain the reliability of digital signatures in an appropriate manner:
  • Machines Cannot Be Fooled Easily
The identification software responsible for matching the given signature with the database presented will not make the mistake of accepting false signs;
  • Fast and Efficient
It is often seen that official documentation is withheld simply because the signing authority is not present. For organizations, in particular, it can be a hassle to physically obtain the sign given all the possible limitations, and so this becomes a great alternative.
  • Enhanced Security
Digital signing deals with the stigma of insecurity attached to sending data over long distance channels because of the fear of it being decoded and tapped into easily. This sign can act as the best wall of defense.

What Else Is Unique About Quantum Sign Corp?
If there was one feature which the creators of Quantum Sign Corp could proudly boast about, and which indeed does make their product difference, it is the audit trail attached to every signature obtained.

There Are Two Levels of Security Essentially

1st Level: Face to Face Signing
Face to face signing serves as perhaps the best way to be convinced that the digital signature has indeed been provided by the authority from whom it was demanded. However, with the rise of impersonation technologies like Deep Fakes etc. it is becoming more and more unreliable to believe what you see with the naked eye over the screen, and so the second degree comes in.

2nd Level: Audit Trailing
Authority is indeed signified by a signature, but will it not be better if you could simply observe where the signature came from? The cryptographic encoding of Quantum Sign Corp further enhanced by the fact that the online information documents it protects are supported by a trailing technology.
This trailing allows you to trace back to the exact digital device from which signature was made, and if you can recognize that the sign, for instance, does not come from a verified source you can take informed action!

Why And How Of Exterior Signage

Picture

Going to get a burger on McDonald’s drive by? You notice a peculiar physical sign, proudly displaying the company’s logo. Similarly, if you go to a Shell or seven eleven gas station, you will observe their signs outside the property.

Why Do You Think Companies Should Focus Upon Exterior Signage?

1. Identity
Burger king’s peculiar burger reminds us of burger similarly abstract yellow color of Shell, reminds us of Shell. Even if we don’t see the name of famous brands, we can acknowledge them through signs.

Popular brands try to sub-consciously link signage industry with us. So if we burgers, we will only think about popular brands such as KFC, Burger King and McDonalds.

If you are a business, you should spend a decent budget on logo and exterior signage designing so that you too, can gain a worldwide fan following.

2. Dominance
Welcome to 21st century – a world of corporate culture where you can do anything to make your business grow.

Signs go for dominance because if they are not careful, someone else will take up the space and improve their business. It is the ‘survival of the fittest’ and a good physical sign marks your territory.

How To Have Exterior Signage?
There is tons of technical talent, scattered across the city, which specializes in exterior signage. The first step is to determine which type is best for you.

1. Selecting the Space
Ask yourself:
  • Where do you want to put your physical sign?
  • What type of shape would look for your sign?
  • Should you put your sign above your shop or in front of shop to have the maximum effect?
  • Can you afford to put two signs situated at some distance? Both of them will create more attention but then you also have to spend more investment for their foundation.

2. Materials
From which material do you want to make your sign? Do you want to go fancy and trendy, using LEDs and lights on your exterior sign or would you prefer a static sign, made from iron, wood or glass?

3. Sign Ingredients
Perhaps the single most important aspect of your physical sign.
  • What do you want to put on a sign and how do you want to put it?
  • If it’s a text and picture-based sign, is it decent enough to capture attention and turn heads of general public?
  • How cool is your tagline?
  • Does the pictorial illustration seem good enough?
  • Would you include a border or not?
  • If you fill up the space too much, is it still readable and good to look at or does it appear all clichéd and complex?
You need to answer all these questions to make your decision.

4. Color chemistry
You might have noticed that restaurants and eateries make good use of bright colors. This is because these colors are linked with emotions.
When you go to these places, you feel like eating and spending more. Bright colors appear funky and casual while simple colors enhance a more corporate appeal.

Interesting Facts On History Of Signs

It may appear shocking but the history of signs predates written language. From the start of life, mankind has tried to store data in the form of signs.
  1. Earliest evidence of sign usage was found by Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals. You can observe their drawings on the internet.
  2. Fast forward to medieval ages, Greeks and Romans made signs of stones and terra cotta and used imagery more than texts. Maybe they had figured out that not everyone can read and humans are more of visual oriented creatures. Their signs depicted different shapes for different businesses such as for taverns and for workshops. Similarly, pagans are known to use symbols of sun and moon in their drawings.
  3. In 1389, King Richard III of England approved a law. According to this law, entities selling ‘drinks’ will put up a sign in front of the building. Initially, the signs appeared helpful and utilitarian but with the advent of time, signs started including colors, logos and different shapes.
  4. With time businesses realized the importance of free market and felt the need of more competitive logos, in order to dominate the local market.
  5. 17th and 18th centuries saw a peak of signage industry in which signs were made from hand carved wood, wrought iron (best quality of iron) and gold leafing.
  6. Establishments feared that too much signs inside a city will become nuisance as roads of urban cities were small and physical signs were taking a large space. As a result, ordnances were passed which ordered signs to be either removed or placed against a wall.

History of Road Signs
The first modern vehicle was built in 1886 and American company, Ford Model T released cars for general public in 1908 however, the US government waited till 1922 to put up modern road signs. The first modern road signs were put according to following suggestions:
  • Round signs for railroad crossings
  • Octagon signs will indicate stop sign
  • Diamond signs indicate curves on a path
  • Square means caution
And,
  • Rectangle denotes speed limit signs
  •
Digital Signage Industry
With the invention of computer, now horizons of sign development were opened. Now, thanks to graphic designing, digital signage industry has taken an integral part of 21st century corporate marketing. The physical signs which used a lot of raw materials, inventory, space and effort can now be made through helpful video tutorials, even by a non-technical person.
If a person finds a mistake in one of the designs, editing a sign is a piece of cake. The world has seen its fair share of physical sign industry and is now opting to get aboard the virtual world.
Affordable electricity and common technology has launched sign industry to explore platforms of AR, VR and 3D tech.
Experts, estimate that the sign industry of today is at least of worth 50 billion dollars, annually. It is indeed a miracle that what started as mere data collection by ancient human beings is now a source of earning bread and butter for countless individuals, all around the globe.

Digital Signage Tips For Bars And Clubs Owners

6/8/2018

Comments

Picture
Capitalism may have worked for you in terms of bringing the best of the best to your doorstep, but those who rely on the industry to make them a living have to amp up their chances, and in case of clubs, their volumes!

A lane of epic disco bars and clubs is a dream place for people who want to call a close to the week and say hello to two days of true comfort. Owning a club is a great deal of investment, but there is no point if people aren’t willing to pay and enter because that way it just becomes a place for party ghosts to loom in. The tool you need to get people in is not social media marketing or excessive local branding; it is digital signage.

1. Heavy Digital Investment
Signage is either digital or not-digital; there are no middle grounds. To make the most of your money, you will have to spend a lot at once to make sure that the glamorous lights and the high shots on display play a great deal of attraction for a new audience.

For example, if you decide to install a secure digital screen on the front wall of your club, any passerby will instantly note that this is the place to be tonight.

2. Attractive Content
Having a number of screens at your disposal does not mean that people will be attracted by the blue screens staring emptily at them. Make original content which garners the visual attention of audience more than anything, because on a busy Friday night nobody wants to listen to a commentary with informative music out of a TV.

The content can include the kind of varieties available at the bar inside, the brilliance of the DJs who turn it up every night, and advertisements for any themes or live performances you have planned. You can then set up a temporary merchandise stall to go with the theme and add more customers to your regular list.

3. Avoid Repetition and Redundant Material
This is such an important element which has made digital signage investments absolutely useless simply because the people operating them do not have the kind of creativity needed to produce new content day after day. For example, if you have a video of a special cocktail your place is offering playing over and over again, you cannot expect people to be impressed by it after looking at it for a hundred times.

Similarly, if you had a performance by a reputed band planned and that just happened, the first thing you need to do is take out the promo video. Keep your digital signage material updated to match the wants of the service users.

4. Games and Entertainment
Digital signage outside is as important as it is inside because people who come in need to speak highly of the club once they step out. You can get a packed place if you have screens inside which do live screenings of short performances happening somewhere, of a new music video that just got released etc. or to play a game such bar trivia.

The digital age is open to mold itself in accordance with your creativity!
