Going to get a burger on McDonald’s drive by? You notice a peculiar physical sign, proudly displaying the company’s logo. Similarly, if you go to a Shell or seven eleven gas station, you will observe their signs outside the property.

Why Do You Think Companies Should Focus Upon Exterior Signage?

1. Identity
Burger king’s peculiar burger reminds us of burger similarly abstract yellow color of Shell, reminds us of Shell. Even if we don’t see the name of famous brands, we can acknowledge them through signs.

Popular brands try to sub-consciously link signage industry with us. So if we burgers, we will only think about popular brands such as KFC, Burger King and McDonalds.

If you are a business, you should spend a decent budget on logo and exterior signage designing so that you too, can gain a worldwide fan following.

2. Dominance
Welcome to 21st century – a world of corporate culture where you can do anything to make your business grow.

Signs go for dominance because if they are not careful, someone else will take up the space and improve their business. It is the ‘survival of the fittest’ and a good physical sign marks your territory.

How To Have Exterior Signage?
There is tons of technical talent, scattered across the city, which specializes in exterior signage. The first step is to determine which type is best for you.

1. Selecting the Space
Ask yourself:
  • Where do you want to put your physical sign?
  • What type of shape would look for your sign?
  • Should you put your sign above your shop or in front of shop to have the maximum effect?
  • Can you afford to put two signs situated at some distance? Both of them will create more attention but then you also have to spend more investment for their foundation.

2. Materials
From which material do you want to make your sign? Do you want to go fancy and trendy, using LEDs and lights on your exterior sign or would you prefer a static sign, made from iron, wood or glass?

3. Sign Ingredients
Perhaps the single most important aspect of your physical sign.
  • What do you want to put on a sign and how do you want to put it?
  • If it’s a text and picture-based sign, is it decent enough to capture attention and turn heads of general public?
  • How cool is your tagline?
  • Does the pictorial illustration seem good enough?
  • Would you include a border or not?
  • If you fill up the space too much, is it still readable and good to look at or does it appear all clichéd and complex?
You need to answer all these questions to make your decision.

4. Color chemistry
You might have noticed that restaurants and eateries make good use of bright colors. This is because these colors are linked with emotions.
When you go to these places, you feel like eating and spending more. Bright colors appear funky and casual while simple colors enhance a more corporate appeal.
