A backer panel is some kind of accessory used for channel letter signs. Of course, it only applies when ordered but is quite effective to highlight those signs that are a costumed letter and can’t be easily read with a natural or terra colors background. Even though they’re called backer panel, it doesn’t actually have to look like a panel, meaning that they’re not necessarily square. Actually, these panels, as they work as a support for the original sign, are usually customizable too and can be adapted to any shape you want (usually it takes the shape of the sign silhouette) It’s just like the frame of a photograph or just a flat “shadow” beneath it. But, as the function of this “shadow” is that the sign can actually be read, it’s usually painted y bright color that matches the palette of the brand. Also, it’s very common to see them as reverse light for the sign which brings the letters a shiny halo. Types of backer panel and uses
As backer panels are usually exposed to a lot of damage since they’re typically outdoors, they need to be really resistant. Also, we want them to last as long as possible so they have to be able to maintain its beauty for several years. That’s why they’re usually made out of aluminum, a flexible, resistant and light material capable of enduring corrosion and other exposures for a long time. Final considerations Cost is really variable depending on the size of the sign, but it generally costs less than another kind of supports such as poles. Also, if you’re planning on setting a reversed lighted sign, don’t mount it on a shiny backer panel as it will create some kind of mirror effect that, far from making your sign more visible will definitely cover it. Backer panels are good for any kind of letters and also logos or images. Posted by Randy Blakeslee - GetnSocial |
