LED is a “light emitting diode”. RGB stands for red green and blue.
A RGB LED combines the products of these colors to produce over 16 million color combinations. A Common RGB LED A typical RGB LED is of 5mm. It has four pins. 3 pins belong to each of the colors (red, green and blue) and one for the cathode. Cathode can be identified by the largest pin. The uses of RGB LED are endless. They can be used as indicators and pulse width modulators to get a hybrid effect of all three colors. Use of RGB LED In Sign Industry The use of RGB LED in sign industry is getting more and more popular. This is due to the fact that RGB LED are cheaper as compared to neon lights. They are also cost efficient as compared to normal lights. Using RGB LED lowers your electricity consumption. A common RGB LED sign advertisement board is a myriad combination of thousands of LEDs. All of them create a bombastic effect on the target audience. Another interesting fact of using LED in sign industry is that they do not attract insets. Many lights are UV in nature which helps insects to navigate and select mates. LEDs do not have UV lights and this reduces the overall percentage of attracted insects. Overall, the results of RGB LED are mind grasping in nature. Changing of Color Humans are visual oriented creatures. This means that more people will react to a visual display than any other mode of communication. Let’s say you are a businessman with your own product. How will you advertise it and make its impact onto the lives of other people? Naturally, you would want to create a creative signboard which would influence your customers. The use of RGB LEDs provides you the option to change colors inside a sign. A signboard displaying a variety of colors will look distinguished from the rest of the signboards. A hue range is from 0 – 360. Both extremes contain red while the middle colors are yellow, green and blue. NOTE: It is important to know that the maximum value of an eight-bit number is 255. So, all the range of 16 million colors is not possible. Only those colors can be displayed which are available between the entry points of 0 and 255. In addition to hue, brightness of LEDs is controlled separately. There are software with devices inside the market which convert hue of each led separately. On the advertising board, change your LED. Design your own catchphrases and attract what you want to attract. Making The Signboards Even Better You can perform the following acts to make the working of RGB LED signboards even better. Add a potentiometer. This will change the color of the LEDs, depending upon the turning of potentiometer. Use LDR – light dependent resistors (resistors which decrease their resistance with increase of light intensity). Use the LDR to make RGB LED depend upon them.
