We live in a world that is today being rule by technological trends and digitalization. Whilst all that is great, the one thing that cannot be overlooked is the effectiveness and power of a good old sign board. Signage has always been a great tool to attract customer attention and get them hooked. Rules to follow to create effective signage If you are planning to create signage that will be effective and meaningful – here are some rules that you should follow. 1. Visibility Visibility is the key rule. Signage are mostly put up at a reasonable distance from the people. You cannot make it miniature and expect people to get impressed at any level. Visibility is so important to ensure that people see, understand and apprehend what they see. It should not be ambiguous and the visible clarity should not be messed up as well. 2. Clean And Clear The layout needs to be clean, well laid out and clear. The signage can also benefit from a clean and clear layout just like your skin. Keep it simple, keep it minimal. This will surely do the magic for you. The font should be a good size, the font style should be easily readable, the images and graphics should be meaningful and the overall alignment should be very clear as well. 3. Interactive Whatever way you choose to design your signage, you need to make sure it is engaging and interactive. You cannot go with a mute theme and expect people to connect with your brand. The key rule is to make the signage interactive and communicative. The audience should be able to connect and associate with what they see on the signage. It should leave a lasting impression on the minds of people – just like a good conversation does! 4. Don’t Create Too Much Mess Too much is never good. Many people think that getting too many things on the sign board will catch attention but in reality it only creates a visual mess. You really do not need to cluster or jam pack the sign board. Contrary to popular belief, less is more and therefore you need to keep the design and layout minimal. 5. Color Psychology Colors have always played a pivotal role in the world of marketing and advertising. There are elaborate blogs that you will easily find on the web that emphasize on the importance of colors in the world of marketing and advertising. Hence, you need to make sure that the colors that you pick out for the signage are engaging and also go well with the theme that you have chosen for your business. 6. Background And Main Content In Contrast Always When designing signage that will be effective, you need to make sure that the background and the main content on the boards is always in striking contrast to one another. Same color or even similar colored backdrop and main content can actually be a little confusing and overwhelming for the onlookers. Posted by Randy Blakeslee - GetnSocial |
