When it comes to figuring out what type of signage to use for the storefront of your business you need to think long and hard about the type of target audience you are looking to attract to your business. Knowing as much about them will help you to figure out if your business would benefit from having a large-format printed signage. :
Using the windows of your business's storefront that face the street can be quite advantageous to the business. However, you might want to use a bit of caution when considering the type of signage you are going to use. The following are four rules of thumb that you should consider using large-format print in your signage:
4 Times You Need Large-Format Prints
When advertising special events:
Many businesses that happen to have large storefront windows that face the street like to use them to display large signage in the windows in order to bring attention to a special promotion that they are running in the store. This might be associated with an upcoming holiday or very special occasion for the business ie.. the anniversary of the store opening.
When your business is located on a very busy street:
In some of the more busy downtown areas of major cities businesses that are located at street level will often use large-format signage in order to make it easier for people who are passing by in a hurry. If the lettering and graphics are too small, it may be very difficult for it to be seen and therefore it will likely be overlooked. You often only have a few seconds to grab the attention of the people walking by or driving by your storefront and the easier for it to be seen the more likely they will stop in your business or remember it enough to come back.
When the theme of the business or brand requires it:
When it comes to advertising of your business no one knows it better than you and you really need to trust your gut when it comes to your brand and whether or not it would benefit from large-format signage in the window. In some cases, the type of business you own almost demands you to use a larger, more bold lettering and graphics when it comes to advertising your business. If you are running a business that sells outdoor equipment or has to do with adventure, you are more likely to attract more foot traffic if you use large, in your face signage.
If your target demographic has issues with seeing your signage
In the event that your demographic that your business targets are seniors or maybe have sight impairments, you would want to be sure that your signage is able to be seen from the street. Unless your prospective customers can see your signage on the windows of your storefront, you are not likely going to get a number of visitors indoor in order to make sales.
